DCarbon team, leading the process of sustainable transition in Egypt, is launching its “Carbon Footprint Assessment- Fundamentals and Sustainability” comprehensive training program to support small and medium enterprises and multinational corporations to sustainably grow and create value to business.
This training program is an essential first step for companies to understand the value of measuring, monitoring and reporting their carbon emissions in accordance with international standards and guidelines. Following these world-class methodologies and examples, they can utilize their emissions data to manage and increase operational efficiency and take actions towards a low-carbon and sustainable business.
Participants will acquire a deep insight of the carbon footprint concept, including international standards, world accredited reporting frameworks and key data, tools and methodologies. During this course, you will be introduced to case studies and carbon footprint assessment and management solutions.
Why the training:
Impacts of climate change on the society and economy have reached unprecedented universal levels, with estimated disruptions for firms and households costing at least $390 billion a year (World Bank, Oct ‘19). Thus, the international community is currently taking steps to minimize carbon emissions globally and adopting sustainability practices.
Drastic socio-economic effects of climate change are seriously threatening the Egyptian territory as well, so, rapid adaptation measures must be taken, especially with Egypt’s highly growing population rates and the extremely high demand on resources.
The Mediterranean coast of Egypt and the Nile Delta are the most vulnerable zones to sea level rise, desertification and health risks, having direct and indirect impacts on cities, industries, tourism and agriculture. So, the current challenge is that sustainable development of Egypt is completely linked to fundamental collective actions.
Significant efforts have been taken by the government and the key industry sectors. Egypt has already developed its Sustainable Development Strategy; Egypt’s Vision 2030, and has submitted national Climate Change reports to the UN. While, a growing number of Egyptian-based enterprises conduct carbon footprint reports aiming to shift to a sustainable business model.
